Publication of either the intent to file or the actual filing of Articles of Incorporation must be made in two newspapers of general circulation, including a legal journal, i f possible. A county by county list of legal publications may be viewed on the Department Web site at www.dos.state.pa.us. Proofs of the advertising are not required to be sent to the Corporation Bureau, but should be filed with the minutes of the corporation. The advertisements must contain the name of the proposed corporation and a statement that the corporation is to be, or has been, organized under the provisions of the BCL of 1988.
When a fictitious name is used by an individual, association or other entity, which includes an individual party, the user of the name must advertise that it has filed or intends to file an application for registration of the fictitious name. The advertisement should be placed in a newspaper of general circulation in the county i n which the business will be located and one i n a legal publication or newspaper i n that same county. The i nformation required for the advertisements i s set forth i n the Pennsylvania statutes. The proper legal publication can also be identified by contacting the county courthouse or county bar association in the county where the principal office is located. The Corporation Bureau can also assist. Evidence of these advertisements i s not required to be sent to the Corporation Bureau, but should be kept with the business records.
